The Role of Robotics in the Future of Work
Description
You are invited to join the fifth webinar in the NIOSH Future of Work Webinar Series, covering significant priority topics. This event, presented by the NIOSH Future of Work Initiative, will focus on robotics. The webinar will offer an overview of robotics trends, implications for worker safety and health, and the NIOSH Center for Occupational Robotics Research. Findings will additionally be provided on ways to assess both human-robot interaction safety risks and exoskeleton performance in differing temperatures.
Featured speakers will also highlight select robotics sub-topics and discuss safety, health, and well-being opportunities and challenges facing tomorrow’s workforce.

Dr. Nnaji holds a BS degree in Building from Imo State University, an MBA from Oregon State University's College of Business, and an MS and PhD in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University. His research focus is on generating foundational insight on human behavior, as well as formulating strategies and developing decision support tools that enhance construction safety and health, human-machine interactions, construction automation, sustainable construction, and workforce development in different construction environments. Dr. Nnaji is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), National Society of Black Engineers, and the Precast Concrete Institute. Dawn Castillo, MPH (Director of the Division of Safety Research @National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) Dawn Castillo, MPH, is the Director of the Division of Safety Research at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). She is also the NIOSH manager for the Center for Occupational Robotics Research, the Center for Motor Vehicle Safety, and the Traumatic Injury Prevention Program. She is an injury epidemiologist and has authored numerous articles, book chapters, and technical documents on a variety of occupational injury topics, including occupational injuries among young workers, older workers, fire fighters, and workplace violence. Ms. Castillo received her Master of Public Health in epidemiology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
