The Buffalo-Cardio Metabolic Occupational Police Stress (BCOPS) study examines the early health consequences of stress in police officers. The study has identified associations between officer exposures (shift work, traumatic incidents, etc.) and health outcomes (body measures, cardiovascular disease, etc.). The webinar will highlight recent research using the BCOPS data including associations of stress and police officer health, sleep and fatigue in law enforcement, and the impact of shift work in police officers. Findings from BCOPS study research can inform intervention strategies to protect first responders’ health and well-being from the stress-related impacts related to their jobs.
